SustainIt and friends have just returned from a great weekend at Llangorse lake in the Brecon Beacons. It’s nice to recharge the batteries now and then, and the main activities this time were camping, mountain biking, eating, drinking, and bonding. Fortunately the weather held out nicely for us despite the sudden drop in temperature; Wales is a very different place in the sunshine!
We turned up early Friday evening and pitched our tents (in an almost empty campsite), then tucked into some lovely chicken curry (thanks to Jake), and a campfire plus beers. On Saturday morning we went biking between Brecon and Talybont reservoir via the canal path and Taff Trail. We earned ourselves a nice pub lunch and then finished the day off with a mighty meat-fest of a barbecue sorted out by Jason.
On Sunday morning we ate decadent breakfast kebabs and croissants and then stopped off at Raglan Castle on our way home; this was a nice surprise and a chilled out end to the festivities…it’s a lovely little 15th century castle which you may have seen featured in the BBC show Merlin.
Ailsa, the new addition to our team saw our true colours and is now probably, quietly, looking for a new employer viagra. Jason won the most interesting person award with some dedicated and rigorous sleeping bag testing; we also think he may have taken a hippo to bed with him on Saturday due to the very unusual noises. I went off on my usual weirdo insomniac escapades, taking photos in the dark and playing the guitar to otters. It was also a pleasure to catch up with Alice – an old SustainIt employee who joined us for the day. We all had a fab time.
